This is the contest prize for Nel, which is also an early birthday gift for Shira. These are their Ratonga characters from Everquest. Saminiya (the brown spotted one) is Nel's warrior, while Sheirah is Shira's mage. Both are meant to ressemble mice more than rats.

This was a painting I did in 2005 for a class assignment. The predator characters are theoretically upper-class ladies and gentlemen in an upper-class club/bar setting, looking aggressive, drinking blood. The message is about how the upper-class preys on and takes advantage of the lower-class (here represented by the prey species icons in the beer taps). I don't usually down-talk my work, but I can see the technical flaws in this now, a year and a half later. That, and it actually photographed horribly. Board, 30" long

"We had to design some sort of alien creature for my SciFi/Illustration class, and, seeing how I've had therapods on the brain, I designed an evolved and impeccably-dressed deinonychus. I love that the Captain is quite agog about the whole situation but, at the same time, is quite impressed with the raptor's courtesies."

Our first assignment in Illustration II this semester was to illustrate a single word, and to do it in a way so that it wasn't blatant nor achingly subtle. The word crocodiles kept cycling through my head- not as the word to illustrate, but as the subject matter- and so I chose "awkward" as my word and came up with the idea of a crocodile businessman bring home a wildebeest friend from work only to find his wife preparing exactly that for dinner. Heh. Awkward.

...I mean, they only have three eyes between the two of them, and Sparky's are all wonky-like. Not that I don't love them. For our Illustration pet portrait assignment, I did the obvious choice and drew my two Boston Terriers, Sparky and the late Sam, exploring some undefined and unspeakably rugged mountain territory whilst decked out in full Inuit regalia. Props to Reagan Lodge for inspiring this way back when.

Heavy use of references though sadly I don't know where they came from.. it was an old file I found on my comp from ages ago. Done in photoshop.

My first rendering of a new character, a black snow leopard by the name of Zhed, which unless I am horribly mistaken roughly translates to 'Fear' in tibetan. Size: 38 x24 inches at 250 dpi. The psd ended up being well over 500mb in size. Time taken: ehm I really havent a clue, in excess of 30 hours..at the very least. Prints: yes (pm me if interested in 8x10 at 10$ plus shipping). Larger limited edition prints available at conventions. Watermark: sorry folks, I really don't want someone making money off my time and effort...though I hate watermarking my work. Prints will come minus the watermark. Tools: original sketch pencil, final ps
